The makers of the hit comic series Hera Pheri have decided to skip its third part and directly jump to part 4. The sequel will be directed by No Entry maker Anees Bazmee and written by Neeraj Vora, who had written the first two parts in the series and directed the second one, Phir Hera Pheri. The trio of Akshay Kumar, Suneil Shetty and Paresh Rawal who made the Hera Pheri series memorable with their comic capers will once again be seen in Hera Pheri part 4.
The reason for the makers jumping to part 4 instead of part 3 is the competition with the Munnabhai series, claim insiders. It is being said that Hera Pheri had achieved cult status among Bollywood comedies but the Munnabhai series achieved more critical acclaim and popularity. The third film in the series starring Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi is Munnabhai Chale America.
The Hera Pheri makers now want to get one up on them and release their part before the next Munnabhai film comes out. Phir Hera Pheri, though a commercial success, wasn’t really appreciated in comparison to it’s predecessor. So now, for its next part, the makers are trying to bring back popular characters from part 1 like that of Kabira (Gulshan Grover) and Khadag Singh (Om Puri) to make it more entertaining. Also, as the next Munnabhai film is going to be completely shot in the US, Hera Pheri part 4 shall be shot abroad.”
Director Bazmee reveals, “We are trying out something new and whackier this time. It is not a gimmick to skip part 3, but a major part of the fun element is in part 4. Audiences will get their answers about part 3 in the upcoming sequel. I don’t want to reveal anything further.”
An official from Feroz Nadiadwala’s production house has also confirmed news about Hera Pheri part 4. He said, “We are going to make it and the shooting for it shall begin by the end of 2007. Right now we are ready with Fool N Final which releases on June 1 and also busy completing Welcome.” But it is not known whether the heroines of part 2, Bipasha Basu and Rimi Sen will be in the forthcoming sequel. Rimi Sen says, “I have no clue about the sequel.” Bipasha was unavailable for comment.
