Tips Music launches channel on YouTube
MUMBAI: Soon after Eros International launched the first official Bollywood channel on Google’s video sharing website YouTube, comes the news that Tips Music too has launched its official channel on the website.
However, Tips Music doesn’t have any revenue sharing deal with YouTube, whereas Eros’ will be monetizing its content via a share of advertising revenues generated by the website.
Tips, on the other hand, will be using the medium to promote its new and upcoming film trailers, songs and music videos, which can be accessed at www.youtube.com/tipsmusic. The Tips movies that are slated to release this year are Naqab and Race. While Naqab stars Bobby Deol, Akshaye Khanna and new find Urvashi Sharma; Race stars Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Anil Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif and Sameera Reddy.
Currently 10 videos have been made available including the theatrical trailer of the company’s production Naqaab and songs of Atif Aslam’s album Doorie, which was launched under the label of Tips. Interestingly, songs from the album Doorie are already available for free viewing on youtube.com.
“We are presently working on digitizing our content and within a month’s time all the content from Tips’ repertoire including songs, promos should be made available,” informs Tips Industries managing director Ramesh Taurani.
When queried on Tips’ development coming within a couple of days of Eros announcing their channel on YouTube, Taurani clarifies saying, “We have been panning this since quite sometime now. It is a mere coincidence that things have fallen in place now.”
Tips Music also has its official website www.tipsmusicfilms.com. When quizzed as to why the content is not being made available on the same, he says, “YouTube is a bigger and better platform. It’s more famous compared to our website and can help us reach out to millions of people.”
The site will be updated on a daily basis and plans are to launch videos simultaneously on the net and television. The YouTube platform will be used purely for promotion and there are no plans to launch Tips’ full length feature films for free viewing.
Eros International has launched an official Bollywood channel on Google’s video sharing website YouTube, which can be accessed at www.youtube.com/erosentertainment.
Movie trailers, music videos and other footage from Eros International’s catalogue of 1300 films are now available to YouTube users. This is the first partnership between YouTube and a content owner from the Indian film industry. The deal will allow Eros to monetize the channel from a share of advertising revenues generated by YouTube.
Apart from YouTube, Eros is also looking at partnering with other websites for its content. Speaking to Businessofcinema.com, Eros International chief operating officer and commercial director Jyoti Deshpande said, “We have plans to launch several channels on the web. YouTube is one of the distribution channels for our content. Additionally, day and date premieres of select films on the web is a definite strategy. These will be for movies that won’t have a wide theatrical release.”
The new channel will be featured in YouTube’s “Partner Channels” section and will feature film trailers from recent and upcoming movies including Aishwarya Bachchan’s Provoked, Akshay Kumar’s Namastey London and Amitabh Bachchan’s Cheeni Kum. Additional footage from exclusive film premieres and star interviews will be showcased on the channel.
